    Select your shipping method. We offer NZ-wide courier shipping — $10 for residential addresses and $15 for rural (including return shipping). If you're based in Dunedin, you can also enjoy free pickup.

    If you’ve selected shipping, your dress will arrive on or before your chosen delivery date. For pickup, you’ll receive an email on the day with collection details. Enjoy your event and look amazing!

  • 4. Return it

    Return your rental the next business day using the prepaid bag, or drop it back if you’re in Dunedin. Leave a review or tag us in your posts to receive 10% off your next hire OR do both and enjoy 20% off!

Our story

SB Dress Hire is a designer dress and bag rental service based in Dunedin, shipping right across New Zealand. We rent the labels you actually want, Aje, Rat & Boa, House of CB, Arcina Ori and more, for balls, 21sts, race days, weddings and formals, at a fraction of their retail price.

And behind it all is me. Hi, I'm Shanae! I started SB Dress Hire because designer dresses shouldn't cost a fortune or sit in a wardrobe worn once (I was guilty of this before starting this business). I personally check, steam and pack almost every single order, and if you're ever stuck on sizing or styling, you'll get me, not a bot.

My goal is simple: you feel incredible on your night, not stressed about your outfit. Wear it, love it, send it back, designer made accessible and sustainable.

How does renting a dress from SB Dress Hire work?

Browse our collection, choose your rental dates, and check out. We'll deliver your dress to you anywhere in NZ (or you can pick up free in Mosgiel, Dunedin). Wear it to your event, then send it back in the prepaid return courier or drop it back, standard cleaning is included, so there's nothing to wash.

Can I try a dress on before I book?

Yes. We offer in-person try-ons in Mosgiel, Dunedin, and postal try-ons for anyone outside the area, so you can check the fit before committing to your event date.

What if the dress doesn't fit on the day?

The best way to avoid this is a try-on first, every listing also shows the recommended fit and stretch so you can book with confidence.

If you are a local pick up we are happy to arrange a swap in the event your dress doesn't fit, please contact us to arrange this.

If you are a postal order, dependent on the day we may be able to arrange a swap (you will need to re-pay for shipping and any price difference). Please contact us to arrange this. We cannot guarantee we will be able to offer a swap for postal orders.

How much does it cost to rent a dress?

Rentals start from around $30, with most dresses between $45 and $90, and some high end designer pieces up to about $135, a fraction of their retail price. Each dress lists its rental price and RRP so you can see exactly how much you're saving.

Where is SB Dress Hire based, and do you ship NZ-wide?

We're based in Mosgiel, Dunedin, with free local pick-ups. We courier NZ-wide, $10 residential, $15 rural, and both include return shipping.

What designer brands do you stock?

Our collection includes Aje, Rat & Boa, House of CB, Arcina Ori and more, alongside sought-after labels across dresses and bags. New arrivals drop regularly, so the line-up is always refreshing.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak times like ball season and race days, we recommend booking 2–4 weeks ahead to secure your size and date. Popular dresses go quickly, but it's always worth checking the calendar for last-minute availability.
